Sully H.W. Bush, a yellow Labrador service dog who worked with the late former President George H.W. Bush, will be traveling with Bush's casket on his flight to Washington, DC, according to a source familiar with the plans.

In Washington, Bush will lie in state in the rotunda of the US Capitol tomorrow and Wednesday.

In the book she writes that she can "never forgive" Donald Trump for questioning her husband's USA citizenship, accusing him and other "birthers" of putting her family at risk. "I count myself lucky for many reasons; but for the opportunity to call George Bush a mentor, I can't help but think I'm the luckiest man in America".

The public viewing will mark the start of four days of events that will include a state funeral at Washington's National Cathedral on Wednesday and a private service at Mr Bush's church in Houston on Thursday.

Another son, former President George W. Bush, was the last on the line, telling his dying father how much he loved him and promising they would see each other again in heaven. President Donald Trump and wife Melania Trump are scheduled to attend.

The university is the site of George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, where his remains will be laid to rest at 4:15 p.m.

The locomotive that will pull the train, No. 4141, was specially painted to resemble Air Force One in 2005 in Bush's honor, Union Pacific said on its website.

Retired Gen Colin Powell, who as chairman of the joint chiefs of staff was Bush's top military adviser, said Bush was the "perfect American" and should be remembered for "a life of quality, a life of honor, a life of honesty, a life of total concern for the American people".

Among those who spent time with Bush in this province were Newfoundland businessmen Harry Steele and Craig Dobbin.

Meanwhile, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe wrote that Bush was "a humble, well-respected political figure while serving and through his many years post-presidency".

Social media users thanked Sully for his services and commented on his and dogs' loyalty generally towards their owners.

In his youth Bush served in World War II as a naval navigator and was a Texas oil pioneer. He would go on to serve as ambassador to the United Nations and China, head of the Central Intelligence Agency and chair of the Republican National Committee before being elected to two terms as Ronald Reagan's vice-president.

Bush and Bill Clinton smile as they leave the Oval Office in 2005.

He was denied a second term by then Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton, who would later become a close friend.

Still, when an aide told Bush his friend was visiting that day, "he perked up".
