Mourinho: Man Utd midfield lacks mad dog spirit

Alexis Sanchez is set for a lengthy absence
Mourinho is believed to have called Pogba "a virus" in a dressing-room rant, before accusing the Frenchman of "not showing respect to his teammates and supporters" following another poor showing. Mourinho's response to a direct question about how the world's richest club can not simply buy players was a vague "you had one of the answers a few weeks ago". "And you kill the mentality of the good honest people around you", raged Mourinho, according to the Daily Record, quoting a dressing-room source.
'The second goal was a direct free-kick and the first goal was because we don't press enough the ball when our block is low, which is something that we do wrong, ' Mourinho said.
Asked if he would buy any players in January, the manager said: "Honestly, I don't think we are going to sign anyone". We don't have many - with all the respect, hope people understand what I mean - we don't have many "mad dogs".
One way round that is to buy younger players and develop them, as United did with Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, who both joined United as teenagers and went on to become two of the most significant players in the club's history. Scott and Matic did a very positive job for two midfield players and Phil Jones leads that group of three in a way we are totally in control.
Mourinho is readying himself for a busy period
Mourinho told BT Sport: "We lost so many balls in midfield and the last third". Tottenham is an unbelievable club but I think everybody would say yes.
Barring an impressive final 20 minutes in the first half, it was another lethargic display from Mourinho's men, with Pogba struggling in particular to make an impact as he lost the ball 25 times in the 90 minutes. "In the second half we went back to losing too many balls in midfield". And when the players don't understand that simplicity is genius, especially in some parts of the pitch, and they keep and keep and keep in going to complicated football it's hard to have that continuity'.
"But good spirit, good fight, good comeback from 0-2 to 2-2".
"What we needed to improve in this game was simplicity in midfield". Such was his display that he even managed to earn a yellow late on for a tackle on Lemina in a game that has done nothing but put a question mark over his inclusion in the starting line up for United's next game against Arsenal.

The poor run was perhaps a rude welcome for the new Kenya Sevens head coach Paul "Pau" Murunga to the World Rugby Sevens Series. Ng Shiu gave New Zealand a first-half lead only for Tom Bowen to cut the deficit to two points early in the second half.
