Teen accused of killing mom, burying her in a fire pit

Gregory Ramos 15 has confessed to killing his 46-year-old mother Gail Cleavenger after they argued about a poor grade late Thursday at their home in DeBary Florida

Ramos has now been charged with first-degree murder.

The 15-year-old boy allegedly strangled his mother after getting into an argument over a bad grade he received, authorities in Florida, US, said.

Chitwood said Ramos admitted to strangling his mother to death Friday morning after an argument over a grade.

He also implicated two friends, who he said helped him bury his mother and stage a burglary at his home. Those friends, 17-year-olds Dylan Ceglarek and Brian Porras, are also in custody and facing multiple criminal charges.

Gregory Logan Ramos had told police he came home from school to a ransacked home- his mom missing, and her van still running in the driveway. His father was out of town at the time, police said.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood argued that Ramos should be charged as an adult because he is a "soulless individual", and is one of the "top three sociopaths" he has ever met, WKMG reported.

Detectives located Cleavenger's body in her burial site at River City Church in the early-morning hours Saturday.

Chitwood told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that the boys chose the pit because the soil was loose and could be easily dug up. Then, police said, the teen returned home from school Friday and placed a call to 911 at 3:52 p.m., reporting a break-in.

"He went to school, left school early, which is where his story began to fall apart", Chitwood said.

Friends say his mother was a loving woman whose last post on Facebook was a photo of her son when he was 6.

After taking down Ramos's confession on Saturday, authorities went to the fire pit and exhumed Gail's body.

"The case we worked tonight was one of the most disturbing and saddest I've seen in my career", Chitwood said.

A judge on Sunday ordered a 15-year-old DeBary teenager, whom authorities said confessed to strangling his mother, to remain in juvenile detention until the next hearing in the case, according to a local state attorney's office.

The sheriff continued: 'We brought him out here (Friday) night to reenact the crime scene and you might have thought he was going on national television'.
