When The Walking Dead returns next week, seven years into the future, Maggie Rhee will no longer be on the show (or running The Hilltop).

If you've not watched the latest episode of The Walking Dead yet then this is your warning. This post comes on the same day in which Lincoln's final episode on the series as lead character Rick Grimes is set to air. I am so ready for everything you will be doing in and out of The Walking Dead Universe.

IYCMI, Rick didn't die on Lincoln's last episode - though everyone thought he did after he blew up the bridge.

The films will be the first projects for a plan to branch out the Walking Dead including more films, specials, series, and digital content. Gimple said that some of the projects will relate to the content we've already seen in The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, while others will be standalone stores. As Lincoln said himself in his interview with Yvette Nicole Brown, "It's not the beginning of the end, it's the end of the beginning", The first film is expected to show where Grimes is taken and what he'll be up against in a new section of the zombie apocalypse.

Scott M. Gimple, who left the position of The Walking Dead showrunner after Season 7 to serve as "Chief Content Officer" of TWD franchise, wrote the screenplay for this first film, but it's unclear who will direct and when it would air. Gimple is now writing the first of the three untitled movies, with production set to begin in 2019. There were story ideas brewing that, as the years went on, seemed very compatible with continuing to tell the Rick story in another format that would allow him time with his family. 'We know Rick Grimes, he would want to be home'.

"I thought the idea of a character that the audience knows and has lived with - and who has oscillated between psycho and father for nine years - to start in a completely different place, was a really interesting, insane place to begin", he explained.

'It is about who he is and who he's going to be - and certainly how he deals with the situation he's in, ' Gimple added.
