Starbucks Unveils 2018 Holiday Cups; Feature Unmistakable Christmas Colors

Meet this year's holiday cups

Customers who order a holiday beverage on Friday, Nov. 2 will get a free solid-red limited-edition reusable red cup, according to Starbucks.

"We listened to our customers", said Roz Brewer, Starbucks' chief operating officer. She added that customers said they "loved the tradition of Christmas".

"We started this season by looking to the past", Kristy Cameron from the Starbucks Creative Studio said in a press release.

Last year's cups drew the ire of some Grinches who were upset that the cups allowed people to fill in their own holiday color schemes.

Inspiration: Starbucks made a decision to embrace the holiday spirit this year, CNN reports.

And you could get one for a buddy as an early Christmas gift.

In 2015, for example, the company introduced a plain red holiday cup, ending a string of designs that featured more explicit holiday symbols, such as ornaments and reindeer, dating to 1997.

Now that Halloween has passed, we're barreling toward that special time of year: the holidays.

This year, the question from 2015 returns: Is Starbucks truly embracing Christmas?

'We learn from everything we do in our stores, ' Brewer said. Last year's cup "didn't resonate with some, [but] it did resonate with others".

New pastries and traditional drinks: Starbucks is really leaning into the Christmas spirit this year with three holiday pastries - the Pistachio Honey Croissant, Sugarplum Cheese Danish and Chocolate Swirl Brioche, USA Today reports.

If you can't make it on November 2, 2018 for the FREE reusable Red Cup, you can purchase them at Starbucks locations for $2.50.
