Firmware Tesla’s Advanced Summon will be ready in ~6 weeks says Elon Musk

In 2017 and this year, Tesla had trouble producing the cars, drawing a lawsuit from investors who said they were misled by CEO Elon Musk's production targets.

Shortly after commenting, Musk announced that the parking upgrade will be ready in around six weeks and will be a software upgrade available to all Teslas produced in the past two years. "But I think with Tesla, we really want to make products that people just love, that are heart-stopping".

Tesla Inc. said on Friday it had received a subpoena from the Securities and Exchange Commission over forecasts it made about Model 3 production in 2017, a set of targets the electric vehicle company failed to hit on time.

It's the first time Tesla has formally disclosed the SEC subpoena in a regulatory filing, but there have been widespread news reports about its investigation into production forecasts. "The DOJ has also asked us to voluntarily provide it with information about each of these matters and is investigating", the California-based company said in a filing. "As is our normal practice, we have been cooperating and will continue to cooperate with government authorities".

Elon Musk, following his short-lived plan to take Tesla Inc. private, said he now "probably" wouldn't accept an investment from Saudi Arabia's government after the death of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Tesla has a $US2 billion investment from the Saudis, and was linked to a further injection of cash from the regime after Mr Musk tweeted in August that he had secured funding to take Tesla private.
