The Odyssey+ debuts Samsung's new Anti-Screen Door Effect (Anti-SDE) technology to lessen that distortion.

Samsung's entry into the Windows mixed reality space gets even more lifelike today with the launch of the HMD Odyssey+, its latest mixed reality headset.

The Samsung HMD Odyssey+ will be available via Microsoft Store and Samsung.com in the USA. Samsung says that the headset, with the new technology, fights irritating fixed-pattern noise, creating a perceived PPI of 1,233 pixels per inch.

Based Samsung HMD Odyssey+ on two 3.5-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz.

Samsung claims that with the HMD Odessey+, you can experience true, distraction-free immersive viewing with its exclusive Anti-Screen Door Effect (Anti-SDE) Display innovation.

Samsung is talking about what is commonly referred to as the screen door effect. For those of you outside of the U.S., the new Windows Mixed Reality headset will be available "soon" in other regions including Korea, China, Hong Kong and Brazil. The Odyssey VR+ now has an extra grid “that diffuses the light coming from each pixel and replicating the picture to areas around each pixel.”.

The Samsung HMD Odyssey+ integrates AKG's premium audio technology for full 3D sound and adds precision 6 Degrees Of Freedom (DOF) tracking via its bundled controllers. The headset is light at only 590g, and its wide eye box measures 146mm.

The VR headset weights at 590 grams, including the Inter-Pupillary Distance (IPD) wheel, which will help to adjust the band according to the users head style or positioning. The Odyssey headsets don't have a flip-up visor like other Windows MR setups, but the Odyssey+ has a flashlight feature that allows you to quickly glimpse the real world while still in the headset so you can check on your surroundings. The Samsung HMD Odyssey+ comes with face padding with an anti-mist feature, which will be useful for long-term VR headset usage.
