Sevastova stuns Osaka to reach China Open final

Wozniacki cruises past Sevastova for second China Open title

World No. 2 Caroline Wozniacki captured her second China Open title here on Sunday with a commanding straight set victory of 6-3, 6-3 over No. 20 Anastasija Sevastova.

Wozniacki was in solid form throughout the tournament and did not drop a single set to romp towards the title.

The first set, Wozniacki took due to the break in the sixth game.

It is only the second title of 26-year-old Basilashvili's career, having won his maiden ATP title in Hamburg in July.

"Unfortunately, I have been playing through pain in my back this whole week", the world No. 6 said in a subsequent statement released by organizers.

"It was one of my best tournaments ever". After Novak Djokovich, Andey Murray and Rafael Nadal, Nikoloz Basilashvili is now the champion of the China Open. "Caroline played wonderful today, it's always tough playing against her and I have never won".

The Latvian - featuring in her first WTA Premier final after overcoming Naomi Osaka in the semi-finals - responded with a break of her own, but she made 21 errors in the second set alone as the Australian Open champion reeled off the last three games to triumph.

"I'm just happy to have reached 30 today, I'm going to enjoy that", said Wozniacki, a former number one. "She didn't give me any presents, it was tough", said Sevastova. Then after number one in the world, I wanted to win a Slam, then I wanted to lift trophies. I think after the second match I started feeling like I was hitting the ball well and I could see the ball really well.

Wozniacki will now head to Singapore to defend her title at the upcoming WTA Finals, featuring the top eight qualifying players of the season.
