Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 File Size Revealed

10 October 2018, 01:49 | Jodi Jackson

Physical Copies of Black Ops 4 Require 50GB Day One Update on PS4

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 may support mods, Treyarch will look at adding support post-launch

Apparently not this year, as Black Ops 4's game enabling patch is massive. Blackout is fully playable once installation is about 30 percent complete (approximately 16-20 GB). According to Activision's support site (as spotted by Eurogamer), the actual disc installation process only uses up 55GB, with the remainder left open for the update.

For those buying the game digitally on either Xbox One or PS4, you'll be looking at a total of 55 GB to download.

Red Dead Redemption II now holds the record with a massive 105GB install but Black Ops 4 has got nearly half that just for its day one patch - and the game won't work without it either.

John is a freelance writer for IGN UK with a love for all things stealthy, ginny and noisy. The final installation footprint will be approximately 55 GB. On PlayStation 4 you'll need to have more room set aside, though, as it states that for an "optimized download experience" you'll want 112 GB of free hard drive space.

You're probably wondering exactly how important this patch is for playing the game and whether or not you'll be able to at least dive into some modes before play? "Download speeds may vary based on region, platform, connection type, and the speed of your internet connection". While GAME's move is considerate, it comes because retail chains tend to demand that physical versions launch alongside their digital counterparts. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 PS4 bundle India price is Rs. 36,490 and has a release date of October 12, which is the same day Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out.

And while Europe gets a 500GB PS4 Slim with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and a 1TB PS4 Pro with the game, India is limited to the aforementioned 1TB PS4 Slim with a Black Ops 4 copy.
