Officers shot during active shooter situation in Florence County, SC

"This area is safe, the suspect is in custody", Florence County Sheriff Kenny Boone said at a news conference.
A social media post from Florence County officials confirmed that a call was made in Vintage Place off Hoffmeyer Road in Florence, South Carolina.

President Donald Trump added in his own tweet: "My thoughts and prayers are with the Florence County Sheriff's Office and the Florence Police Department tonight, in SC".
Lott clarified Friday that three Florence County deputies had gone to the home the day of the shooting to interview Seth Hopkins about sex assault claims that had been made against him. Another officer was in stable condition, and a third, shot in the thumb, was released from the hospital, Kirby said. Neighbors reported hearing multiple rounds of gunfire.
West Florence High School was put under lockdown, with any practicing teams brought inside, abcnews4.com reported.
Authorities did not identify any of the wounded officers.
A source tells FOX 46 the name of the officer killed was Terrence Carraway. That was an update from earlier when five were reported wounded.
He said Carraway, his youth football coach in the late 1990s, was a down-to-earth community leader with whom young people felt comfortable discussing their problems.
"The selfless acts of bravery from the men and woman in law enforcement is real, just like the power of prayer is real", McMaster tweeted Wednesday night. "I am in prayer for all six families who are hurting right now, including that of the shooter".
"This is absolutely devastating", Rep. Tom Rice, R-S.C., tweeted.
Major Mike Nunn of the Florence County Sheriff's Office said about 4pm (local time) officers tried to serve a search warrant at a home on Hoffmeyere Rd, Florence when the suspect opened fire on officers.
A person answering the telephone at the county emergency department said he could not give further details.
It was not clear what sparked the shooting. He's in custody at McLeod Regional Medical Center and hasn't talked to police because he's recovering from a head injury he suffered after falling during the shooting incident. Fox also reports that the shooter is an elderly man.
Vintage Place is described as an "upscale neighborhood in the western part of the city", according to the AP.
