He's among the original Avengers expected to make their exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe when the contracts of numerous actors expire with the release of Avengers 4.

Evans was initially confirmed as Marvel's Captain America back in 2010. While we don't know what role Evans will have, after playing the ultimate good guy in Steve Rogers, could he have been attracted to the movie because it will let him do something very different?

Now Evans is joining Knives Out, per Deadline's reporting, and it's not just Craig who is already on board. Thank you for the memories!

This sparked an outpouring of sadness with tweets from fans, and other big actors like Ryan Reynolds and The Rock - Dwayne Johnson.

Here are the best social media reactions to Chris Evans's "departure" tweet.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers 4 is expected to star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt.

'I'm not crying. I'm weeping.

Action star Chris Evans said goodbye to one of his most memorable on-screen characters, Captain America, as he wrapped up the filming of much awaited Avengers 4. "There's a difference", Reynolds wrote.

"What a run you had brother. Keep on keepin' on", Johnson added.

Earlier this year, Evans told The New York Times that wanted to "get off the train before they push you off".
