Nokia 7.1 Brings an HDR10 Display, Impressive Specifications and an Android One Experience in an Affordable Package

HMD Global launches latest mid-ranger the Nokia 7.1

The Nokia 7.1 will be available in two colour options- Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel.

There's also a Pro Camera Mode that gives you deeper control over the camera's white balance, ISO, focus and shutter speed, and there are AI enhancements accompanying the front-facing camera that allow for 3D personas, masks and filters.

The inclusion of a display notch will likely be as polarizing Android consumers as other cutout-equipped devices proved to be, though the mass market already clearly signaled it doesn't consider notches to be a deal-breaker, as evidenced by the excellent commercial performance of recent flagships from Apple and Huawei. To Juho's point, non-HDR content viewed on the phone will be up-scaled in real-time using a dedicated 16bit engine that processes millions of pixels per second.

The phone is based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 636 platform compared to the Snapdragon 660 inside the 7 Plus. The smartphone comes in two variants based on 3GB RAM+32GB storage and 4GB RAM+64GB storage capacities. Both the models feature a microSD card slot, enabling you to further expand the phone's storage capacity up to 400GB.

That's above a 5.84-inch OLED PureDisplay, with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The optics on Nokia 7.1 come with Zeiss lenses on top. At the front, the smartphone features a single 8MP camera. Pre-orders begin October 5th ahead of the October 28th launch. Oh, and there's a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C for charging and Bluetooth 5.0, too.

Backed by a 3060mAh battery, the Nokia 7.1 supports native fast charging technology that is claimed to charge 50% of the device in 30 minutes of charging. Their battery is good for 10 hours. HMD says that will be upgraded to Android 9 Pie shortly after launch, and the Nokia 7.1 will be part of Google's Android One program. As for the software, the handset is running Android 8.1 Oreo, but since it belongs to the Android One lineup, there are several benefits to this. While the Nokia 7 never made it to India, we got hold of the Nokia 7.1 Plus that for Rs 25,999 did well for its segment.

Yes, it's coming to the U.S. Great news for Nokia 6.1, 6.1 Plus and prospective 7.1 buyers as they will get Android Pie update in the month of October. Prices start from £299 in the United Kingdom, while European customers will have to spend in the region of €299 to €349 depending on their region. The base model of the handset that won't be sold in the USA will start at €319 in Europe, whereas the more powerful one should feature a €349 price tag.
