Fox News host Chris Wallace on Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony: ‘This is a disaster for the Republicans’

The Fox News host Chris Wallace on Thursday said Christine Blasey Ford's testimony on Brett Kavanaugh was

Many Democrats on the committee called for the FBI to launch an investigation into the allegations, which Ford says involves an incident when Kavanaugh allegedly assaulted her in the summer of 1982 but, like numerous Republicans on the committee, Sanders said such an investigation is unnecessary because "he's been through six separate background investigations".

Professor Christine Blasey Ford has given emotional testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee about her allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The network reports that Senate Judiciary Committee investigators placed a call to Kavanaugh about the accusations on September 25 and he denied the encounter.

Democrats have urged a delay to allow for an FBI investigation, a move backed late Thursday by the American Bar Association, which had earlier endorsed his nomination.

At the time of its endorsement, America Magazine's editors hailed Kavanaugh as the champion who could be the Supreme Court's fifth vote to overturn the ruling of Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in all 50 states.

In the editorial, it didn't say that it's beyond a doubt that Kavanaugh committed the assault Ford alleges.

Blasey Ford claims Kavanaugh tried to rape her at a party in 1982 when he was a 17-year-old high school student and she was 15. "The Kavanaugh nomination process has been flawed from the beginning", he said, adding that Ford was credible and courageous.

"People have never questioned his judicial temperament and his decisions".

What I do know is that our system of justice affords a presumption of innocence to the accused, absent corroborating evidence. "There is no question that Judge Kavanaugh is qualified to serve on the Supreme Court, and in a different political environment, he would be confirmed overwhelmingly". "He is a fine husband, father, and friend-and a man of the highest integrity". The Supreme Court will start its next session on Monday.

Kavanaugh is a former top aide in Bush's administration.

His comments were noticed by the White House, with Press Secretary Sarah Sanders praising his "decency and courage". "Don't look away from me", she said.

He then took aim at the Democrats: "What you want to do is destroy this guy's life, hold this seat open and hope you win in 2020".

Asked how certain she was that Kavanaugh was her attacker, she declared, "100 percent".

"I can always be convinced", he said.

After the hearing, Republicans met in private to discuss the next steps.

Two key undecided Republican votes remain: Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski, and Maine Senator Susan Collins.

But absent these further steps, how can Flake pretend that Judiciary Committee Senators - and he himself - have done everything they could to get as close as possible to resolving that uncertainty?
