The media aide to the former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has reacted to the report that the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun resigned from her position.

The minister felt that her position is becoming untenable and is hurting the President in the run up to the 2019 election. She got her first degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University in 1981, after-which she proceeded to Ogun State University for her MBA.

The former investment banker said she was issued with a certificate that she thought was genuine.

During her time as Finance Minister, She set up "The Efficiency Unit", cut thousands of ghost workers from the government's payroll, led the whistleblower programme and championed the government's tax amnesty programme - the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme.

In 2010, she was appointed to serve as the executive secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.

"The party invites Nigerians to note that President Muhammadu Buhari, whose administration has become notorious for shielding its many fraudulent and corrupt officials, could not summon the rectitude to sack Mrs. Adeosun, adding that she would have still been in office, if not for the sustained uproar by Nigerians and global creditors".

"Furthermore, we are also aware that President Buhari was not by any measure prepared to drop her from his cabinet but for the demand by those responsible for her appointment, who protested her continued stay in office, although for their own selfish gains". Adeosun did not comment on the claims initially, prompting criticism from her opponents.

Adeosun, born and raised in the United Kingdom, explained that her "trusted associates" got her the now questionable document because she was not "familiar with their [NYSC] operations". Upon enquiry as to my status relating to NYSC, I was informed that due to my residency history and having exceeded the age of thirty (30), I was exempted from the requirement to serve. This has come as a shock to me and I believe that in line with this administration's focus on integrity, I must do the honourable thing and resign.
