Cliff collapse on Greece's 'shipwreck beach' injures tourists
Seven people were injured yesterday when a landslide sent rocks crashing down on to a Greek beach packed with tourists.
British holidaymakers have described scenes "like Dunkirk" after tons of rock fell from a cliff face onto a packed tourist beach on the Greek island of Zante.
The beach at Navagio, known as Shipwreck Beach, is popular with tourists.
Seven people were injured on Thursday after a part of the cliff overshadowing the beach gave way. Greek authorities say a landslide at a popular beach on the western island of Zakynthos has resulted in at least one injury, while coast guard officials were seeking to determine whether there were any people missing.
A government statement said a 34-year-old Czech woman had been hospitalised with a fractured vertebra, while her husband and two children sustained light injuries.
