Assassin's Creed: Odyssey comes to Nintendo Switch in Japan, with a catch

There will be more to come as the Assassin's Creed Odyssey development team is committed to support the game and continued improvement of the core experience with additional content, yet to be revealed.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is coming to Nintendo Switch - but only in Japan.

The first story arc, Legacy of the First Blade, will explore why the assassins choose to fight from the shadows and depict the first assassin to use the iconic hidden blade. Story Arc II - The Fate of Atlantis: In the second story arc, players will confront godly creatures and uncover the secrets of the legendary sunken city.

On top of that, Ubisoft has a lot of free stuff lined up that you won't need the season pass for.

The Season Pass also includes Assassin's Creed III Remastered, which will be released in March 2019.

The Remastered editions will feature 4K and & HDR on PS4™ Pro, Xbox One X and PC, higher resolution textures, new graphics engine, and several more other graphical enhancements.

The first pack, Legacy of the First Blade, is for big Assassin's Creed nuts - it'll start this December and tell the story of the first Assassin, who apparently wasn't Bayek?

Ubisoft will also be releasing a range of free content for Odyssey outside of the season pass, such as extra quests and a New Game Plus mode that will presumably allow players to replay the story with all the gear and skills they earned on their first playthrough. It'll have improved "gameplay mechanics" and "ergonomics", about which we've asked the company for more details.

As the above trailer shows, there will also be plenty of free content for all players. These episodes will feature familiar characters from the main game as well as some new faces. Additionally, all players will have access to recurring free in-game events that introduce challenging enemies and daily quests. Discovery Tour will educate players about ancient Greece's monuments, history, and culture.

Weekly and daily "contracts" will be handed out, and players will have to track down an epic mercenary or ship to defeat.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey has an October 5 release date, but those with Gold, Collectors, or Ultimate Editions will be able to jump in on October 2.
