- 'I got it wrong' says Roxanne Pallett in first interview since leaving Celebrity Big BrotherHowever, she has stepped down from the job after her controversial appearance in the Celebrity Big Brother house, where she accused soap star Thomas of punching her.

The actor, who won acclaim for her depiction of domestic violence victim Jo Sugden on Emmerdale, walked into the Celebrity Big Brother (CBB) house to cheers on 16 August, but left in tears at the weekend.

"I feel devastated. It cripples me with embarrassment and shame that I could put somebody in that position", a teary Pallett replied, a short time before the TV show host bluntly ends the interview.

"Only I can go away now and figure out why I became that sensitive that I manufactured a different version in my mind".

Fellow CBB contestant Ryan Thomas, who played Jason Grimshaw on ITV's Coronation Street, appeared to give Pallett a playful boxing jab during Thursday's episode.

The actress previously alleged Thomas "punched me like a boxer would punch a bag", but has now said she could see his actions were not deliberate.

"I am scared about the future but to be honest Emma I need to just think about today", she continued. She is going to take some time to reflect and address some issues.

The letter also referenced Thomas' partner, former The Only Way Is Essex star Lucy Mecklenburgh. I believed him when I hugged him in the pool and I looked into his eyes and saw what it did to him.

"The fact that I used terminology like woman beater and words like assault and abuse, I can't apologise enough".

He argued: 'OK so if she kills herself - because of this witch hunt - because she's clearly unstable (which some of you say is not mental health) then I predict this... It's the title I feel everyone's giving me at the moment, all I can do it own it accept it and take each day now. And I was wrong, massively wrong.

Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight on Channel 5 at 9pm.
