Tor for Android brings secure, anonymous internet browsing to your mobile phone

The Tor Project launches Tor Browser alpha on Android

Looking for a private mobile browser app? Tor has the answer

The Tor Project has released an Android version of the Tor browser, and it's available to download either directly from its website, or from Google Play.

Now, there's a brand new listing of a Tor Android browser on the Google Play Store.

Third-party Tor browsers were (and continue to be) an option for Android users, but there was never an official mobile counterpart to the desktop browser - which, by the way, just recently got a major update. The fresh development comes a long time after The Tor Project brought its proxy app Orbot and the standalone Orbot-powered Web browser Orfox.

Similar to the existing experience on Linux, Mac, and Windows, Tor Browser of Android delivers a private Web browsing experience. The Tor browser helps you to access internet without any worry of identity theft.

Tor is based on Firefox, and while it can be intimidating to use for beginners, everything possible is being done to make it simple to get started. Thus, this innovation is very important.

First thing you may want to do is load https://check.torproject.org/ in the browser to verify that the connection flows through the Tor network.

By the way, in a short time Mozilla Firefox should change the design of their logo, which is one of Nayak in the world. At the moment users need to connect to Tor network still using Orbot. It is an alpha version on the other hand and that means that you should expect bugs and issues; if you need to use Tor in critical environments you are probably better off using other apps or methods for now.

Firefox ESR 60 and, consequently Tor Browser 8, features these improvements. But soon the browser will itself have this feature. The app is 32MB in size and requires Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and later.
