North Korea says US 'throwing cold water' on denuclearisation progress

White House adviser Bolton urges North Korea to act on denuclearization

John Bolton Says North Korea Hasn't Done Much To Rid Itself Of Nuclear Weapons

"What we need is performance from North Korea on denuclearization".

Three South Korean firms imported coal from North Korea disguised as Russian products in violation of United Nations resolutions in a fresh sign of loosening sanctions, South Korea's customs agency said on Friday.

South Korea's presidential spokesman said last month that Seoul wants a declaration of the end of the 1950-53 war sooner than later.

The United States was "attempting to invent a pretext for increased sanctions against the DPRK".

"However, the USA responded to our expectation by inciting worldwide sanctions and pressure against the DPRK", it said in a statement carried by KCNA news agency.

Since the June meeting, Pyongyang has announced measures including halting missile and nuclear tests. "However, the USA responded to our expectation by inciting global sanctions and pressure against the DPRK", the statement read, using an acronym for North Korea's official name.

"I can tell you we continue to have conversations virtually every day, every other day or so with the North Koreans", Heather Nauert, U.S. State Department spokeswoman, said Thursday "When I say 'conversations, ' that can be by phone, that can be my message, that can be by email".

Ri told Rouhani that Washington's pullout from the 2015 pact and restoration of sanctions was an "action against global rules and regulations", IRNA said.

Pyongyang insisted that the US should reciprocate to the North's suspension of missile launches and nuclear tests and other goodwill gestures such as the return of remains of American troops killed in the Korean War.

Satellite images from last Friday indicate North Korea has carried out additional activities to dismantle a key missile launch facility, the Washington-based 38 North think-tank said on Tuesday.

South and North Korea technically remain at war as the Korean War ended only with the armistice treaty.

Earlier this month, August 3, the USA mission to the UN submitted proposals to the UN Security Council suggesting new sanctions against North Korea.

"In the current situation, friendly countries should develop their relations and cooperation in (the) worldwide community", he said, adding Iran and North Korea have "always had close views" on many issues. But across the region, there have been signs that U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign for "maximum pressure" lost steam after Pyongyang sought to improve relations with Washington, Seoul and Beijing.
