Browns insider explains why Baker Mayfield has no chance to win starting job
On the first drive Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns, Barkley also ran for a two-yard loss.
The first two picks in the 2018 National Football League draft met in the preseason Thursday and wasted little time dazzling in their National Football League debuts.
Barkley is an extremely talented player, but that doesn't mean much without the proper execution.
Rookie sensation Baker Mayfield wrapped up his first performance early in the fourth quarter of the Brown's game against the New York Giants. The Browns starting QB Tyrod Taylor completed all of his five passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Mayfield was up next and, following a three-and-out, settled in on his second series, finding Rashard Higgins with a pretty back-shoulder throw on the sideline for a 26-yard gain.
One of Baker's favorite targets throughout the night was fellow rookie Antonio Callaway. He hauled in a quick slant from Mayfield that he took 54 yards to the end zone to extend the Browns' lead in the second half.
"If you're not going to work hard, then you're not doing it right", Mayfield said.
It marked the second touchdown of the game for Mayfield and pushed his line up to 212 passing yards and two passing touchdowns on 20 attempts. That's unlikely, as Hue Jackson and John Dorsey have up until now been steadfast in the support of the starter, Taylor, who couldn't have been more efficient in his own Browns debut. In the meantime, former Buffalo Bills signal-caller Tyrod Taylor will start and serve as Mayfield's mentor. It may have been the first preseason game, but that doesn't change the fact that at least some of the real gameplan made it into this one.

The pricing breaks down as follows: The first line on T-Mobile Essentials costs $60 per month, while the second costs $30. As T-Mobile sees it, not all of its users need the frills and benefits of its One or One Plus plans.
