Everton are keen on Barcelona's Yerry Mina
Having already taken Lucas Digne, Everton signed Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes on Thursday after some complicated negotiations, with the deals being confirmed around the closure of the window in England.
Southampton signed striker Danny Ings from Liverpool on a season-long loan before a permanent deal next year.
Mina had been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United following an impressive 2018 World Cup with Colombia, but Everton secured his signature. However after the initial loan Southampton will have an obligation to buy the Englishman for £20 million.
"I chose Everton because of all the things I had heard about Marco Silva and after speaking to him I was happy with what he said to me", Bernard told the club's wbesite.
'The manager made me feel confident I wanted to play here because of what he's done in the past.
Everton, who finished eighth in the Premier League last season, have always been viewed as the side most likely to mount a challenge to break into the illustrious top six. It is the best league in the world. The English club will pay Barcelona 30.25 million euros plus 1.5 million euros in variables.
Barcelona can buy the centre-half back for around £30m if he does well at Goodison but, for now, he is an Everton player.
Mina joins Everton on a five-year contract for a fee thought to be in the region of £27m, while Gomes jets in on a season-long loan deal.
"Everyone I have spoken to about Marco Silva has been full of praise for the new Everton manager and I think the Blues will win the division without the "Big Six" this term".
