Schwartz joins a cast that includes James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Jim Carrey. Sonic is a snarky but entertaining little piece of shit, a character trope that Schwartz is synonymous with. Standard Sonic stuff then.

Here's a bit of movie casting that you didn't think of, yet kind of makes sense-Variety reports that Ben Schwartz of House of Lies and Parks and Recreation fame will voice the titular blue hedgehog in the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie.

Now shooting under Paramount Pictures, the live action Sonic the Hedgehog film also features former X-Men actor James Marsden among its growing cast, with director Jeff Fowler at the helm, noted for receiving an Oscar nod for 2005 animated short "Gopher Broke".

Schwartz is not new to the voice acting game, now starring as Dewey Duck on the Disney Channel reboot of Duck Tales and will voice Leonardo in Nickelodeon's upcoming Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Scwartz, who is now voicing Dewey Duck on Disney Channel's Duck Tales reboot, can next be seen in the Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish comedy Night School. Have you seen any of Schwartz's work?

Back in July we learned the actor would be playing Sonic's arch nemesis Dr. Eggman, aka Dr. Robotnik, and while appearing at a Television Critics Association press tour panel for his Showtime series Kidding (which looks absolutely fantastic) he was asked about his role in Sonic the Hedgehog, to which Carrey confirmed his role would be live-action. Deadpool director Tim Miller is the executive producer for the film, while Jeff Fowler will direct. It's now set to premiere on November 15, 2019.
