Ruby Rose Calls Batwoman Casting'A Childhood Dream

Rose revealed on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon that she found out about her role just an hour before the premiere for her new shark movie The Meg, trying to hold back tears at the event.

Ruby Rose is coming to The CW. "I kept spontaneously crying".

She said: "I think the reason I kept getting so emotional was that growing up watching TV, I never saw anyone on TV that I can identify with".

Australian actress Ruby Rose has admitted that being cast as the first openly gay superhero in a TV series feels like a "game changer".

"The Bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honored".

Both Variety and Deadline report that Rose, now appearing in the giant-shark action movie The Meg, has been tapped to portray Kate Kane in both the upcoming Arrow/Flash/Supergirl crossover special and the potential Batwoman series being helmed by Caroline Dries that could air in 2019. When she did, she couldn't help but get choked up at the prospect. She told Fallon that she is looking forward to visiting kids in hospitals to empower them that they, too, can be superheroes. I'm also an emotional wreck. because this is a childhood dream, ' she wrote on Instagram. An openly gay Jewish woman, Batwoman has a military background and has proven herself every bit Batman's equal on the pages of comic books. Kate Kane is the second Batwoman in DC Comics' history, with the first being Kathy Kane, Bruce's aunt and Kate's mother.

"But don't call her a hero yet", the press release continues.
