Mateo Kovacic is set to join Chelsea on loan after admitting his unhappiness at Real Madrid

MADRID SPAIN- MAY 01 Mateo Kovacic of Real Madrid controls the ball during the UEFA Champions League Semi Final Second Leg match between Real Madrid and Bayern Muenchen at the Bernabeu

The Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic has been linked with a move in the opposite direction.

The report claims that the Blues are interested in bringing the 25-year-old World Cup victor to Stamford Bridge as Maurizio Sarri is willing to give him a central role at Chelsea.

He has signed a seven-year deal at the club and replaces Thibaut Courtois, who is set to join Real Madrid.

The move comes as huge news to the footballing world as Liverpool have only just recently made Brazilian Allison the most expensive keeper ever, notably beating Chelsea to his signature.

While not discussing the status of the transfer, Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri said that Kepa was "very young, but very, very good". Everything, all the titles the club has won, all the players at the club, the city, the English Premier League.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has described Mateo Kovacic's playing style as a "perfect fit" for the Premier League side.

Now, Sunday Times reporter Castles is claiming that Real Madrid have offered Chelsea FC the chance to sign Croatia star Kovacic in order to speed up a deal for Courtois.

Courtois had been preparing to enter into the final year of his deal at Chelsea, with no extension put in place.

The 26-year-old only had a year left on his deal and has been absent from training this week as he looked to push through a move before the transfer window ended for the Blues on Thursday.

Kovacic will join Chelsea on loan until June 30, 2019 as part of the deal, with the Croatia worldwide spending a season away from the club he joined from Inter Milan in 2015.
