WhatsApp has introduced group video call feature much to many of its users delight

Besides all the benefits associated with any regular WhatsApp account like talking to your customers and responding to their queries, your business profile on WhatsApp also throws up helpful information for your customers like your address, business description, email address and website. The Facebook-owned app also claimed that this new feature was engineered to run smoothly even when the network conditions aren't favourable to the users.

With Clickatell's integrations, a business can immediately start sending out notifications and conduct real time 2-way customer interactions. Today, Facebook revealed the first business model for WhatsApp through which it will generate revenue.

WhatsApp, which has around 1.5 billion users, said starting Wednesday businesses can use its WhatsApp Business API to send notifications such as shipping confirmations, appointment reminders and event tickets.

A Reuters report said that WhatsApp will charge the messages at a fixed rate for confirmed delivery, ranging from 0.5 cents to 9 cents per message depending on the country.

"Businesses will pay to send certain messages so they are selective and your chats don't get cluttered".

"With this approach, you will continue to have full control over the messages you receive". Reportedly, Jan Koum had left his position at WhatsApp due to an internal clash with Facebook over data security of WhatsApp users, where Facebook wanted a much more open environment for business purposes, and contrary to that Jan took his stance on privacy. Therefore, the company heeded the calls by offering "support for businesses that need more powerful tools to communicate with their customers".

Along with the new WhatsApp Business API, Facebook will soon be offering ads via its Ads Manager that open a WhatsApp chat. Facebook said last week that 2.5 billion people use its family of apps each month.
