Android 9.0 P might roll out on 20 August 2018

Now we have some interesting information about the upcoming Android version.

Blass revealed the information on his official Twitter account in a cryptic yet fairly obvious manner, by tweeting a calendar with the letter P on the August 20.

The timing would be consistent with how Google's handled Android updates in the past. We might be getting that answer if Android P is officially launched on August 20. And just like a year ago, the 2018 Google Pixel devices are unlikely to be the first devices to run Android P out of the box as well.

New features coming to Android P include smarter power allocation to reduce battery usage by the CPU, and adaptive brightness to optimise the power used by a device's screen by learning the user's preferences - not only relying on ambient lighting conditions. (iOS 12 adds something similar to iPhones in the form of its Screen Time feature.) And interface tweaks should clean up Android's look in P. So it should find a home on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The betting favorite appears to be Pistachio Ice Cream, after a leak last month suggested that Pistachio would figure into the OS's new name.

Google said that there are now 16 devices with notch cutouts from 11 manufacturers that are already running Android P and there are more on the way.

As mentioned above, the Beta version of the mobile operating system is already out with phones including OnePlus 6, Nokia 7 Plus and the Google Pixel among others.
