Google’s Clock app can now wake you up with Spotify

Google Clock app can now use Spotify for alarms

An update to the Clock app is rolling out this week and essentially adds a Spotify tab to the alarm sound options in the Clock app. Unsurprisingly, Spotify won't be the only music streaming service to support the new feature - while it is odd YouTube Music integration isn't there by default, Google has promised in some reports that it will be coming soon.

Then you have to launch your "Clock" app and click on the "Alarm" tab.

This feature will be rolling out globally, and will be available on devices with Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above.

You could argue that those missing features should've been available from day one, but at least Google isn't completely ignoring them. The Play Store has plenty of great alarm clock apps that can help make the wake-up experience as stress-free as possible. So if you are one of those heavy sleepers, you might want to pick some loud music instead. Perhaps Google wanted to test it with Spotify users before it invested the man-hours needed to include its own streaming services. Those with a premium Spotify account can select any track, album, artist, or playlist in the company's catalog to wake up to. Perhaps Google is going by the sheer popularity of Spotify to make sure that people actually use this feature.

How do Spotify music alarms work?

When you go to set up this feature, Spotify will offer some personalized recommendations and curated "morning playlists" with tracks like "Here Comes The Sun" by The Beatles and "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and The Waves just in case you need some inspiration.
