WhatsApp updated to support four-person video chat - GSMArena.com news

WhatsApp group voice and video calls

WhatsApp has announced that WhatsApp Messenger has been updated with group calling for voice and video.

The group voice and video calling feature is now rolling out both in the Android and iPhone versions of the app. For now, one group video call can support up to four people simultaneously. Following this, you will see a button at the top-right corner of the screen that will let you add another participant to the call.

The feature was first announced at Facebook's F8 conference in May.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp on Tuesday rolled out its group calling feature - for both voice and video options - on iOS and Android devices for its 1.5 billion users. Group calls are end-to-end encrypted, and they're created to work on low-bandwidth networks.

When you receive a group voice or a video call, the incoming call screen will show you all the participants now on the call.

WhatsApp video and audio calls can have up to four participants including the person who started the call. More specifically, it was at this event that WhatsApp was officially going to get group calling sometime in the future.

Tap on that icon and add a member to the call from your contact list.

According to a statement released by Whatsapp, users can use the video call option by opening their chat and tapping on the video call option. You only need to update to version 2.18.23 to start enjoying this feature.

"In India - where people forward more messages, photos, and videos than any other country in the world - we'll also test a lower limit of 5 chats at once and we'll remove the quick forward button next to media messages".
