Samira Wiley, Ryan Eggold To Announce 2018 Emmy Awards Nominations
It's Emmy nominations time, which means that about.000001 percent of the world is happy with all the choices while the rest of us are tossing chairs and frantically searching for the keys to the pitchfork closet. The two drama series picked up 13 and 12 nods respectively, and both were recognized in the coveted top drama category.
Strahovski, who is pregnant and had to hide her baby bump during the filming of season 2, told Vulture of her nomination: "I can't stop smiling, my face hurts ..."
The drama missed the awards in 2017 because of its production schedule but this year's nominations include nods for cast members Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peter Dinklage. Game Of Thrones was the dominant series. It was followed by NBC's CMSCA.O sketch show "Saturday Night Live" and HBO's sci-fi series "Westworld" with 21 nominations each, and Hulu's dystopian vision "The Handmaid's Tale" with 20.
Netflix also showed its dominance over the traditional free-to-air and cable TV networks.
Leading the nominations in totals by platform were Netflix (112), leapfrogging last year's leader HBO, which scored 108.
"Game of Thrones", which sat out the awards previous year because it missed the eligibility window, received 22 nominations, the most of any series.
It's also worthy of note that Donald Glover, who is up for lead actor in a comedy, landed 16 nominations for Atlanta, including outstanding comedy alongside Barry, Black-ish, Curb Your Enthusiasm, GLOW, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Silicon Valley, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
