An accountability court on Friday sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 10 years in prison for corrupt practices linked to his family's purchase of upscale London flats.
Angry protesters attempted to attack the Avenfield apartments of the Sharif family here last night, days after a Pakistani court sentenced ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif to seven years in jail in the Avenfield properties corruption case, a media report said today.
Safdar's name was also placed on the black list, which means he would be barred from leaving the country.
"Due process will be implied against the court's decision", Maryam had said, adding: "The institutions in the United Kingdom have already told the Pakistani institutions that no illegality was carried out".
While they will not face any difficulty in coming to Pakistan, they are expected to be arrested during the immigration process at the airport as per standard procedure for all those placed on ECL.
She vowed that getting arrested along with any other sacrifice needed under the banner of "respect to vote" will be made by the leadership or by thousands of PML-N devotees treading the same course as them.
Mr Sharif has said that he is not afraid of going to jail.
"Let me make it clear that the law enforcement agencies will arrest Nawaz and Maryam at the airport to implement the court's order", he said.
The father-daughter duo was sentenced on Friday to 11 and eight years in prison and slapped £8-million and £2-million fines, respectively, in relation to the Avenfield properties reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) last year.
