Liverpool transfer news: Liverpool begin talks with Stoke City over Xehrdan Shaqiri transfer

Liverpool are confident of making Xherdan Shaqiri their third summer signing after opening transfer talks with Stoke City over the Switzerland worldwide.

Liverpool are also in talks with Stoke and are believed to be closing in on an agreement with the Potters over a fee for the winger.

Now, Pearce writes that talks have been opened with Stoke as Liverpool look to capitalise on the Potters being relegated last season.

A move to Anfield would make Shaqiri the Reds' third signing of the summer following the arrival of midfielders Fabinho and Isaac Christie-Davies.

Shaqiri would not be seen as someone to come in and start games immediately, though Klopp appreciates the importance of depth across his attacking positions.

Stoke are open to offers following their relegation from the Premier League, with Shaqiri unlikely to stick around at a Championship club.

Stoke are interested in taking 21-year-old winger Sheyi Ojo on loan but no decision has been made by Reds' boss Jürgen Klopp with regards that separate bit of business.

They could have him in place to travel to the USA where they will play Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United later this month.

Liverpool's summer transfer window is about to get even more interesting now that the World Cup is close to coming to an end. Fekir, in any case, is still with France at the World Cup and would not be due to return to action until early-August. They have no interest in the likes of Nick Pope, Jasper Cillessen, Thomas Strakosha and Jiri Pavlenka, all of whom have been linked of late.
