Billy Dee Williams Confirmed To Return For 'Star Wars: Episode IX'
The man who originated the charismatic character almost four decades ago is reportedly headed back to that far away galaxy for Star Wars: Episode IX, the upcoming installment in the blockbuster franchise. A younger Lando was played by Donald Glover in Solo: A Star Wars story. Billy Dee Williams, who originated the role in Empire Strikes Back, is set to don the cape as Lando in the forthcoming installment of the Disney/Lucasfilm franchise. Williams reportedly cancelled a scheduled attendance at an upcoming sci-fi and pop culture convention due to scheduling conflicts with filming on Star Wars:Episode IX, which is set to begin at the end of this month.
If the report is true, then Episode IX - directed and written by J.J. Abrams and slated for a December 2019 release - is getting better all the time.
Star Wars: Episode IX will conclude the third trilogy of Star Wars movies that began with Star Wars: The Force Awakens followed up by Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
