The newspaper tweeted a photo apparently from the scene, showing a lightly smashed up motorbike and auto, with a caption suggesting the vehicle had been turning and Clooney had made contact with its windscreen.
The actor was given a CAT scan which showed that none of his bones had been fractured, according to local media reports.
Clooney was taken to a hospital and the injuries are not believed to be serious, according to La Nuova.
A picture from La Nuova suggests that Clooney hit a vehicle while on the motorway.

Clooney was on the island shooting his new series Catch-22. The series is being produced for Hulu.
The story, set in Italy during World War 2, focuses on Christopher Abbott's character of Yossarian, a US Air Force bombardier who is furious because the bureaucratic rule known as Catch-22. Calls and emails to Clooney's spokesman weren't immediately returned.
