With six goals so far in the World Cup, Kane is the leader of the England side on and off the pitch, but on Saturday, although he worked hard and led the attack intelligently, he wasn't the hero; England had plenty of heroes.

'I haven't told my wife yet - but it's not something she wouldn't expect from me.

While England's win is certainly cause for celebration, the video - which was posted to Twitter just a few hours ago and has already notched up nearly 200,000 views - has sparked numerous people to berate the behaviour of the fans in question.

Five-time champions Brazil had arrived in Russian Federation with high hopes of putting the humiliation of their 7-1 semi-final thrashing on home soil by Germany four years ago behind them, but were instead sent packing by a clinical Belgian outfit.

After dealing manfully with Colombia's rough-housing, England are in for a tough time against a side whose players, staff and greats have called into question aspects of their opponents' aptitude and attitude in the build-up.

"They've got a blend of youth, experience, technical ability, very good".

Asked if England could go all the way, he said: "I said before the tournament, I think we've got the right balance, there's no one out there that's outstanding - that's been proven, they're all out, the big teams. We are an emerging side, an evolving side: a long way from ideal", said England coach Gareth Southgate.

"I'm fairly indifferent to the game on Saturday because Switzerland got kicked out in their last game, I'm not too happy about that", he says. Leicester only signed him at the start of last season after Hull City were relegated from the Premier League and was one of their best players last time around.

"Football can bring connection through a country and I'm delighted we are exciting people, bringing enjoyment and we want to keep it going", added Southgate, who himself has risen to prominence during the tournament with his calm style earning plaudits.

"You don't have evidence it works until you've achieved results and then going through relegation and the problems that causes is a reminder, hang on a second, there are things there I don't truly believe in".

"We don't fear Croatia or Russian Federation and the final is a one-off game, so it's a lottery".

Should England get past a resilient Swedish side, they will face the victor of the quarter-final between hosts Russian Federation and Croatia in the last four.

And the replica shirts came off to be twirled joyously around heads when Dele Alli sent fans stratospheric in the spaceship-inspired Samara Arena.

As of Friday, official Federation Internationale de Football Association ticket sales for the game stood at 32,000, meaning it was feared there could be as many as 10,000 empty seats at the 42,000-seat stadium.

From there, England would not look back, controlling the pace of the match and never ceding much ground to Sweden.

The official attendance was read out over the PA system as 39,991 - just a couple of thousands short of capacity.
