GettyNaby Keita is likely to make his Liverpool debut later this month
Although a quintet of their stars are still involved in the World Cup, Liverpool reported back for pre-season on Monday, with new signings Fabinho and Naby Keita joining those uninvolved in global duty this summer.
Liverpool have submitted an opening £12m bid to sign Besiktas centre-back Domagoj Vida as Jurgen Klopp looks to secure his third summer signing, according to reports in Turkey via the Mirror. "People want to come and play for this manager, people want to come and play for these supporters", said the former midfielder.
While Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United were reported suitors for Fabinho, he denied being close to signing for the Red Devils.
He said via the Press Association: "Karius, to be fair to him, was getting stronger and stronger as the season when on". Is he capable of parking that up, moving on and drawing from the experience? That was, for me, the explanation and I thought: 'OK, come on, we need to check that'.
"The easy thing to do is put a cross through his name and bin him but you have to remember he took Liverpool to the Champions League final".
On the flip side, however, the additions to the squad will certainly mean that some of Liverpool's very talented young players will have to go out on loan to earn some game time.
