Arsenal And Tottenham Linked With Big Money Move For Barcelona Midfield Star

Brazil's defender Fagner and Mexico's forward Hirving Lozano vie for the ball during the Russia 2018 World Cup round of 16 football match between Brazil and Mexico at the Samara Arena

Lucas Torreira rejected the chance to undergo his medical with Arsenal in Russian Federation but the midfielder's father insists his son will be joining the Gunners this summer.

Speaking to Teledoce, Lucas' father said, "There will be people that will accompany him". He won't be alone.

According to a report from respected football expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal are keen on signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes this summer, but the Gunners should be wary of bringing the Portugal global to the Emirates.

"But there's a whole programme getting readied for Lucas", he added.

Emery has already started to rebuild the Gunners squad, bringing in experienced defenders Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, as well as highly rated young goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The young anchor did a job of quelling Cristiano Ronaldo's threat somewhat in Uruguay's 2-1 win over Portugal on Saturday, making four clearances and two interceptions, though he completed only one of five attempted tackles, per WhoScored.com.

Sevilla have indicated they are prepared to sell at the right price and this news is supported by the Daily Mail who claim that N'Zonzi has submitted a transfer request in order to force through a move to Arsenal.

Numerous lesser talents or converted midfielders have attempted to fill the role but with little sustained success.

Torreira is now with his country Uruguay at the World Cup where they are preparing to face France in the quarter-finals on Friday.
