Scott Pruitt becomes latest Trump official to be harassed at a restaurant
In the case of Kristin Mink, a teacher who was eating with her 2-year-old son in a Washington, D.C. cafe on Monday, she made a decision to approach Pruitt and politely read a statement to him.
Mink approached Pruitt at lunch on Monday, carrying her young child, and calmly asked him to resign. "Meanwhile, you're slashing strong fuel standards for cars and trucks, for the benefit of big corporations".
"I honestly don't know how he can sleep at night knowing what he is doing to our future and for our environment", Mink said.
"So, I would urge you to resign before your scandals push you out", Mink concluded.
A whistleblower from within the Environmental Protection Agency claims that the agency's head, Scott Pruitt, would alter his official calendar and keep private records of his actual meetings to hide them from the public, according to a CNN report.
Should Trump officials be asked to leave a restaurant? He was the leading voice pushing for the U.S. to leave the Paris climate accord and has repeatedly questioned the realities of climate change.
Pruitt served as the head of the association previously when he was Oklahoma's attorney general.
Restaurants have become an uncomfortable flashpoint recently in an ongoing national debate over civility and activism. That incident came just a few days before Homeland Security Secretary Kristjen Nielsen was run out of a Mexican restaurant in Washington the same day she defended Trump's "zero tolerance" policy that caused family separation at the US-Mexico border.
Both aides described instances in which their boss pressed to travel first-class or via private jet, while Dravis acknowleged that Pruitt asked his subordinates to do non-official work for him, multiple individuals said. Per the Washington Post, Dravis ultimately landed Marlyn Pruitt at the Judicial Crisis Network, though the salary fell short of her husband's demands. The press secretary later tweeted about the encounter, prompting Trump to describe the restaurant as "dirty on the outside" and "dirty on the inside".
But as the majority of people don't ever run into public figures, another civil and civic option that can make your voice be heard is to vote - our most important duty as citizens. She said on Facebook that he remained completely silent and, before she even sat down, left the restaurant escorted by a male companion and two bodyguards.
