With Fortnite Playground Issues Continuing, Epic Replaces Another Limited-Time Mode

Since Playground was been removed, players have been clamouring for the return of the experimental game mode, asking Epic when the sandbox take on Fortnite is likely to return.

Ideally, that would make for matches with more combat-heavy finales, as teams try to reduce their opponents' numbers rather than just stake out the ideal high ground.

Epic Games have now confirmed that the Fortnite missile will be hitting on Saturday.

Launched alongside the v4.5 update early on June 27th, the Playground LTM offers players the chance to play alongside their friends and do whatevery they like in a private, low-pressure environment with the full Fortnite map at their disposal. "We're continuing testing on our matchmaking improvements and are still aiming to open the Playground LTM as soon as we're confident in our improvements, " Epic posted to the "Fortnite: Battle Royal" subreddit.

That rocket has remained a mystery in the weeks since its appearance, but we may finally know what's up starting tomorrow.

So how long will the new game mode be down and when can we expect it to be working again?

A handful of streamers and YouTubers were able to record their Playground sessions before the mode was taken offline, so at least we can all watch other people have fun while we wait.

Epic Games certainly knows how to rile the crowds up, too, with the way it's always hyping the next big thing up. We are holding the release until next week to continue hammering away this weekend. "So many of you rushed in to create and play that our matchmaking service fell over", a statement from Epic Games reveals.

"We plan to push these changes and improvements live later today to bring the Playground LTM back online".
