Blizzard Has Revealed the Ridiculous New Hero Coming to Overwatch

What we do know of Hammond, if that is indeed the hamster's name, is that he is the missing specimen off Horizon Lunar Colony. It's the hamster hero Hammond in an enormous mech suit, acting as the game's latest tank hero.

At any rate, if Hammond's release follows the trend of most other new Overwatch heroes, he should be available for testing in the game's Public Test Realm beta soon. Though the hamster's name is indeed Hammond, the hero in general - which seems to include Hammond's mech - is called Wrecking Ball.

UPDATE: Blizzard has published a pair of new videos that give us more information on Overwatch's 28th hero. And, by tease, I mean troll the living hell out of its 40 million players, because there's no way that Hero 28 is a chipmunk in a giant mech suit, right?

Toy Ball strapped to Winston's escape pod. Wrecking Ball can use Roll to go wherever he wants, and use his Grappling Claw to gain momentum and fling himself into the air to cover even more distance.

It looks as though Overwatch's newest hero might be who - but not what - we thought.

"When Wrecking Ball is at his strongest, he can use Minefield flings mines onto the ground that deal a considerable amount of damage to enemies unfortunate enough to trigger them. He excels at disrupting enemies' positioning with his Roll and Piledriver abilities while also posing a serious threat if he's left alone to train his Quad Cannons on key targets", says Blizzard on how Wrecking Ball can be used in a match.

Wrecking Ball can switch between two-legged combat mode and a highly-mobile rolling mode.

Of course, Hammond's ball isn't just a plaything used for exercise.

Wrecking Ball is indeed a genetically modified hamster.

Blizzard has previously revealed considering a "jetpack cat" hero, however, which they originally canned as going a bit too far towards the ridiculous.
