Muslims are now nearly at the end of their month-long fasting period known as Ramadan, which began on 16 May 2018. In Ramzan, the 9th month of Islamic calendar, Muslims observe fast and abstain from food and water from dawn to dusk.

Government has advised Malawians to prepare for the moon driven Muslim Eid holiday either this Friday or Monday depending on the sighting of the moon. However, the number of days in the month is only established after sighting of the moon.

However, Eid holidays will begin from June 15 to June 18, the interior ministry had said in a statement. People from across the world try to sight the moon after sunset (when they break the fast) on 29th Ramzan. The lunar cycle is used to calculate the Islamic Hijri era and this year's Ramadan was observed at a different time across India, as the moon was not been visible in some parts of the country.

If you're staying in Dubai for Eid Al Fitr, there's some good news for drivers as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced four days of free parking in Dubai during the Eid celebrations.

According to the Met Office, there are fewer chances of the moon being sighted on Thursday, June 14, with a chance of Eid-ul -Fitr being celebrated on Saturday, June 16 across Pakistan.
