Rose McGowan Indicted for Felony Cocaine Possession
13 June 2018, 07:25 | Myron Mathis
Rose McGowan indicted on cocaine charge in Loudoun Co.
Charging documents say cocaine was found in a wallet McGowan left behind on a United Airlines plane at Washington Dulles International Airport previous year.
She has maintained her innocence; her lawyers have argued that someone planted the cocaine, possibly someone connected to Weinstein.
A May cover story with The Hollywood Reporter included comment from McGowan about the fact she faced a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted, while Weinstein remained free.
The "Charmed" star and her attorney assert that she left her bag containing her wallet on the plane unattended. McGowan was not present in the courtroom and will not attend her trial Tuesday, local radio station WTOP reported.
You let Rose tell it - Harvey Weinstein is trying to frame her to silence her as she was one of the first and most vocal victims to blast him for his heinous deeds.
Later that year an arrest warrant for McGowan surfaced, shortly after she publicly accused Weinstein of raping her.
She has pleaded not guilty to the crime, and maintains the drugs could have been planted as five hours had passed between McGowan leaving the wallet, which contained her ID card, and it being found by a cleaning crew.
He has denied all accusations.
Weinstein has since been arrested on charges of rape, committing a criminal sex act, sexual abuse and sexual misconduct in NY for which has pled not guilty.
Weinstein couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
