British singer Robbie Williams is among acts set to perform in the Luzhniki Stadium here during the Opening Ceremony of the FIFA World Cup on Thursday (June 14).

"I'm so happy and excited to be going back to Russian Federation for such a unique performance", Robbie said of the honour.

Russian Federation built on its reputation for lavish spending on sporting events, investing billions of dollars into preparations for the 2018 World Cup, the worldwide soccer tournament that will feature 32 teams playing in 11 cities across the country this month.

The striker, broke the previous record in the 2014 tournament, featured in four World Cups and won the Golden Boot award in the 2006 edition.

Additionally, Russian soprano Aida Garifullina will perform alongside Williams while Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo - a two time World Cup champion - is also present during the opening ceremony, according to Federation Internationale de Football Association.

"I never imagined I would be part of this huge celebration, the World Cup, happening in my own country", says the soloist from the Vienna State Opera.

"The opening match is always a very symbolic one - it is that instant when you realise that the big moment you, as a player or fan, have been waiting for four years has finally arrived".

The Saudi team, led by Argentinian coach Solary, succeeded in crossing the first round in World Cup in U.S. after topping its group scoring six points from two wins over Morocco 2-1 and Belgium 1-0. After so much hard work, suddenly the whole world is gathered in your backyard to celebrate their love for football.

Finally, the FIFA World Cup is almost upon us, which means that it's time to tune in and see the biggest soccer tournament in the world from Russian Federation.
