Resident Evil 2 is getting a remake, and it's out in less than 7 months

Resident Evil 2 Remake Revealed, January 2019 Release Date Confirmed

However, it's possible that the system has been tweaked in some way to accommodate for improvements or even just the highly cinematic nature of the original Resident Evil 2 camera system. Players can expect fresh take on the stories of Claire and Leon, as they move around the city in a desperate effort to stay alive. The mouse is crawling around what appears to be a room in the Raccoon City Police Station, where someone was eating pizza and playing video games before the zombie outbreak. That's a pretty quick turnaround for a game that just got its first trailer.

"The press and fan reaction to Resident Evil 2 when we said "We Do It" in 2015 has been overwhelming", Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi says. Now, 20 years after the original release of Resident Evil 2, it's time to return to Raccoon City.

A whole new perspective - New over-the-shoulder camera mode and modernized control scheme creates a more modern take on the survival horror experience and offers players a trip down memory lane with the original gameplay modes from the 1998 release.

The same can't be said for the Resident Evil 2 Remake, which opens its gameplay trailer with the death of a rat and a security guard thanks to its own version of the infected - the traditional zombie.

Fans of the Resident Evil franchise will be pleased to see the quality of the remade RE2 game: it looks like an entirely new game, one far more playable than the original on the newest consoles. Players will feel they're in the shoes of heroes Leon and Claire, terrified to step out of the light for fear of what flesh-eating nightmares might await them in the darkness.

Attendees at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (Los Angeles, June 12-14) can get an early preview with the first hands-on demo opportunity for Resident Evil 2 at Capcom's booth.

To round things out, a slew of new screenshots for Resident Evil 2 have been revealed.
