AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Global Box Office Tops $2 Billion

The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Disney might be a little unhappy with the lackluster Solo box office, but Infinity War's whopping success should keep them happy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the third Avengers film, and the 19th film in the MCU, eked passed the $2 billion mark on Monday. Pic holds the record for biggest domestic debut ever with $257.7M in its opening weekend. The film now sits at #4 of the all-time box office list and is $67 million away from passing Star Wars: The Force Awakens. James Cameron is still, after all these years, king of the world.

Infinity War now ranks as the fifth highest-grossing film in the USA and Canada with $656.1 million thus far. Internationally, it is the third highest grossing release ever with $1.346 billion. Its domestic and worldwide debuts over the April 27 weekend combined for a record-shattering global opening of $640.5M even without China.

Much of Infinity War's total has come from global box office receipts, particularly in China, where it's earned $369.7 million and become the country's third highest-grossing film ever. It's safe to assume that it will, but it was safe to assume that Solo was going to be a big box office hit as well...and it wasn't. It reached the milestone one day earlier than "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Infinity War" brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. Avengers 4 opens on May 3, 2019. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment - the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.
