Darrell Davis: Kerr's Warriors are good, but bad for NBA
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday urged the Washington Capitals to come to the White House to celebrate their Stanley Cup championship but said the victor of the National Basketball Association title would not be invited.
"I'm going to ask them to recommend to me people who were unfairly treated", said Trump at the White House Friday. "We'll see", Trump told reporters at the White House, naming other championship teams that have previously visited him.
So Trump, to spare himself the snub, disinvited the team because, he said, they disagree with him about standing for the national anthem - even though all members of the Eagles stood for the anthem all season long.
Trump told reporters that neither of the teams in the NBA Finals, nor stars LeBron James or Stephen Curry, would be receiving an invite to the White House after this year's champion is decided.
"I don't feel you have to go to anybody's house if you don't want to", LaVar said.
Also on Friday, Trump said he would look at pardon applications suggested by National Football League players who protested during the anthem.
Speaking with the media on an off day Tuesday, members of the Cavaliers and Warriors sounded off on the situation between the National Football League champs and the president, and leading the charge was James.
Steph Curry and the Golden Warriors don't want to visit the White House when they win their second consecutive year.
"I think it's laughable at this point", he said. "There is a lot of people who believe that he's not for the people or doing things that are right by the people so it's not surprising hearing the news today with the Eagles". "U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going!"
Curry concurred with James, saying "I agree with 'Bron". LaVar's own distrust of Trump stems from LiAngelo Ball's shoplifting arrest in and eventual release from China while with the UCLA men's basketball team. "Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!"
Trump pointed out that he's had several championship teams at the White House, including the NFL's New England Patriots and the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. Sounds like another win for whoever nabs the championship.

Rafael Nadal beats Dominic Thiem for 11th French Open title
Play has begun in the men's final of the French Open , with Rafael Nadal comfortably holding serve to love in the first game. That was swatted away with Nadal's double-handed backhand, though, and the second set duly went the way of the favourite.
