Queen had cataract surgery last month, palace confirms

Instead of taking it easy post-surgery however, the Queen carried on with her demanding schedule and didn't cancel a single engagement.
"I can confirm that the queen successfully underwent a short, planned procedure to treat a cataract last month", a palace spokesman said, declining to give further details.

Her real birthday is on April 21.
The Queen Mother had an operation to remove a cataract from her left eye when she was 95 in 1995, but after her surgery she spent a night in King Edward VII hospital, unlike her daughter. The spokesperson noted that "she recently has been wearing sunglasses to events, rather than cancel them".
