Pep Guardiola will not open the door to a possible Barcelona return

Pep Guardiola has branded Yaya Toure a liar after the former Manchester City midfielder accused the manager of being "cruel to him" and having "problems with African players".

In an interview with France Football magazine, Toure criticised Guardiola's methods and views his successes in coaching as a "myth".

"He turned all Africa against himself, many African fans turned away from Manchester City", he said.

In his career with the club, he won the Premier League three times, the League Cup twice and the FA Cup too.

And when you consider his 316 appearances, scoring 79 goals, you'd think he will be going down as as a true City legend.

Guardiola described his claims as "lies".

"It got to the point I asked myself if it was because of my colour".

Toure and Guardiola have clashed in the past, and his agent, Dimitri Seluk, went one step further, insisting that calling the Catalan a "dog" - which another representative, Mino Raiola, did previously - is too kind to the City boss.

When asked about Toure's comments on Spanish show TV3, Guardiola revealed what he really thought.

'But the day he will line up a team in which we find five Africans, not naturalised, I promise I will send him a cake'.

"It's a lie and he knows it", Guardiola said. "We were together for two years, and he says it now-he never told me to my face".

He made just 17 appearances across the entire season as he was quickly fazed out of the team by Guardiola, who also sold the 35-year-old when he was in charge of Barcelona in 2010. He never told me face to face'.
