First ‘Bond girl’ Eunice Gayson dead at 90

"Our honest thoughts are. James Bond." She reprised her role as Trench in From Russia With Love.

A statement posted to her official Twitter page said: "We are very sad to learn that our dear Eunice passed away on June 8th".

Over a game of cards Bond, played by Sean Connery, asks her for her name: "I admire your courage, Miss, er?"

We send our thoughts and condolences to Eunice's loved ones during this hard time.

Do you remember watching Eunice Gayson in the James Bond films?

The actress, who plated the first ever Bond girl in 1962 hit Dr No, was aged 90. "Trench. Sylvia Trench. I admire your luck, Mr. ...?" She replies: "Trench, Sylvia Trench".

"Bond, James Bond", the worldwide man of mystery declares.

Speaking about the scene in 2012, Gayson recalled how she helped calm Connery's nerves by taking him for a drink so he could deliver the line correctly.

Trench is the only Bond girl to feature in two films.

Another fan added: "Sad to read of the death of #EuniceGayson - the first Bond girl in "Dr No" (and "From Russia With Love")".

Eunice Gayson leaves behind a daughter, Kate, who had a brief cameo in the 1995 Bond film GoldenEye.

She also starred in the 1958 Hammer horror classic The Revenge Of Frankenstein alongside the legendary Peter Cushing.

As originally planned, the character of Trench was to have returned in subsequent Bond adventures, but director Guy Hamilton dropped her from the third film, "Goldfinger".
