Trump on June 9 tweeted that based on "false statements" by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who hosted a G7 summit in Quebec, he had instructed USA representatives not to endorse the final communique, which the Canadian leader had said was agreed to by all G7 nations.

He arrived at the summit Friday, as trade tensions between the United States and its partners continue to mount, and he is set to depart the gathering early while other G7 members discuss how best to combat climate change.

"We are focused on everything we accomplished here at the #G7 summit", said a statement from his office released on Twitter.

"Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn't", U.S. Republican Senator John McCain tweeted after Trump on Saturday. Moscow repeatedly refuted accusations and took retaliatory measures.

"We need to work together to ensure all women and girls have access to quality education and modern skills training", Trudeau said.

The Canadian government announced at the G7 summit that it has raised more than $3.8 billion in an effort with other countries to send the world's poorest girls to school.

In a statement, The Associated Press reported, a spokesman for Trudeau did not address Trump's tweeted insults.

President Donald Trump delivered a stern warning on trade to foreign countries at the Group of Seven summit on Saturday, advising trading partners not to retaliate against US tariffs on the imports of steel and aluminum.

"If they retaliate, they're making a mistake", Trump said.

Laura Dawson, director of the Canada Institute at the Washington-based Wilson Center, said it's too early to know what Trump's tweets mean for United States policy.

Mr. Trump, though, said conversations were cordial and respectful at the summit.

"The president will continue to say what he says". Halting all trade with countries that don't drop tariffs is a "very profitable answer", Trump said.

Besides the escalated risk of a trade war, Trump's blistering personal attack on Trudeau poses domestic economic and political risks for the Canadian prime minister, who has stuck to a conciliatory stance in the face of USA threats on NAFTA and other bilateral trade cases.

Trump was heading into a bigger controversy over trade as other G7 leaders, including host Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, have been angered by Washington's imposition of tariffs on steel and aluminium imported from allies including Canada and the European Union.

Donald Trump is embarking for the North Korea negotiations in a slump.

On Canada, he is repeating his criticism of Canadian dairy but says he wants to make a deal on NAFTA, with two different types of sunset clauses - a stumbling block for Canada in the past.

Numerous G7 leaders have been angered by the Trump administration's harsh tariffs on steel and aluminum on national security grounds and the USA leader's shocking claim that Russian Federation - which was kicked out of what was then the G8 in 2014 after its seizure of Crimea - should be permitted to rejoin.
