Just Cause 4 Leaked Ahead of Reveal by Steam Ad
09 June 2018, 08:40 | Jodi Jackson
Just Cause 4 accidentally shows up on Steam storefront
Just Cause 4 appeared in the pop-up sales window upon starting up Steam, and also in the "Updates and Offers" section on the front page. For a brief period of time last night, an advertisement for Just Cause 4 was featured on Steam's home page, suggesting that a reveal is indeed on the way. Very little else is shown on the advert other than the protagonist standing in a jungle during a lightning storm.
Well, hopefully something a little more refined than 2015's Just Cause 3.
Publisher Square Enix and developer Avalanche Studios management will be issuing a big sigh, groan, or be sitting with heads in hands this morning after Steam managed to leak an unannounced game.
It seems an nearly certainty that Just Cause 4 will be officially revealed at publisher Square Enix's E3 press conference, which takes place on Monday June 11 at 10 AM PDT/1 PM ET.
The Just Cause series of games are some of the best anarchy simulators available, with enormous sandboxes for players to explore on foot, planes, boats, cars and bikes, or through using Rico's grappling hook.
It's unclear if the game will release this year or next, but it's definitely coming.
Avalanche are going to self-publish the game themselves and it'll be out sometime next year. "Nobody wanted to invest in new intellectual property, and Square Enix especially wanted to make its old IP online-only experiences, expecting micro-transactions and piecemeal episodic content to be the only way to go", Sterling added.
